Give it a narrow, useful job
Opening hours, location, basic service questions and booking requests are a sensible starting scope. Keep the approved information current. Do not ask an assistant to improvise professional advice.
Test the awkward questions
Try an unavailable slot, an upset caller, a request outside your services and a conversation in Spanish. A good assistant knows when it does not know and offers a clear route to a person.
Know the full running cost
Ask about setup, monthly support, minutes, message usage and extra channels. Our phone launch plan includes 200 minutes/month; extra minutes are listed in the service scope. Confirm the provider and allowance before signing.
